Wildlife Sighting

There has been a reported bobcat sighting within the Vista Tassajara community.  While bobcats are naturally wary of people, awareness is key to preventing and reducing the chance of conflict.   Below are several tips to keep your family and pets safe:

  • Keep a close watch on small children.
  • Keep unattended pets indoors or confined in secure pens if left outdoors.
  • Remove all potential food sources from your property.  Do not feed wildlife or leave your pets food or water outdoors.
  • If you encounter a bobcat, do not run; instead, face the animal, make noise and try to look bigger by waving your arms; throw rocks or other objects. Pick up small children.
  • Please report all sightings to wildlife biologist, John Krause of California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, at (415)454-8050.
