RE: Neighborhood Traffic Management Program for Parkhaven Drive and Viewpoint Drive
In August of 2020, the Vista Tassajara Homeowners Association initiated an application to the Town requesting to participate in the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP) as a result of resident concerns of speeding and pedestrian safety within the neighborhood.
As a result, the Town conducted speed surveys at Parkhaven Drive south of Gold Creek Court, Viewpoint Drive west of Hillview Drive, and Viewpoint Drive north of Viewpoint Court during a period from 11/09/21 to 11/10/21. The survey showed 85th percentile speeds of 30 mph, 31 mph, and 26 mph respectively. These results show acceptable traffic patterns for a residential street, and therefore Parkhaven Drive and Viewpoint Drive do not qualify for physical traffic calming measures.
At this time, the Town cannot recommend the installation of physical traffic calming measures, such as speed lumps, but can offer further discussion regarding additional signage, stripping, education, and/or enforcement should that be of interest to the community. If you’d like staff to present possible options, please let us know of the appropriate date and time to make an appearance at a scheduled HOA meeting and we will gladly attend.
